Events Programme

The River Project runs a wide variety of free public events ranging from mammal days and dragonfly walks to tree planting and river clean ups. All events are advertised in local shops/notice boards throughout the Valley and printed in the local papers so keep an eye out for further details.

AUGUST

Saturday 16th August: 2nd Valley Brewery Walk

A summer walk between the Valleys micro breweries with a tour of the Golcar Brewery.

12pm at the Empire Brewery, Slaithwaite.

TOUR COSTS: £10 per head, WHICH INCLUDES THE TOUR OF THE GOLCAR BREWERY, PIE AND PEAS AND 2 OR 3 PINTS OF DIFFERENT BEERS PUT ON ESPECIALLY FOR OUR TOUR.

SEPTEMBER

Sunday 21st September: Marsden Mushroom Madness

Enjoy a walk around Tunnel End to search out this years crop of fungi.

Sunday 19th October: River Colne Conker Championship

Take on the staff of the River Project and try and take this years crown. Adults and childrens competition

Colne Valley Listeners is a new, permanent sound installation as part of the River Colne Sculpture Trail. Through Colne Valley Listeners, Matthew Sansom aims to provide a sound-led experiential engagement with the Colne Valley; employing active listening both as metaphor and as practice to deepen understanding of, and to enhance the relationship between, the commission’s location, beauty and significance with people past, present and future.
